Cubes
Three dimensional. A cube is layers of squares, and every picture here is real dots you can turn — drag one.

Build it, take it apart
Build the Cube
Stack square layers into a cube, counting 16, 32, 48, 64 — then take it apart, counting down.
Layer by Layer
One layer, how many layers, the whole — then take it apart, or start from the number and build it.
Which Cube?
Cubes and cube roots in one round: an edge of 4 makes 64, and 125 stands on an edge of 5.
Slice It Three Ways
A box sliced from the top, front and side is always the same number — and a hidden box seen one layer at a time.
1 · Peel the Line new
A line has two ends, so peeling takes one off each: 7 peels to 5, 3, 1. Then put the ends back on.
2 · Peel the Square new
Lift the frame off a square: 25 is a frame of 16 round a 9. Count each corner once, then put it back.
3 · Slice and Peel new
A cube as flat slices: peeling takes the top and bottom slices and a frame off the rest. 125 = 27 + 98.
4 · Peel the Cube new
What is inside a cube: 125 peels to 27, 27 peels to 1 — then wrap it back up, skin by skin.

Count What You Can't SeeA box holds more cubes than it shows: count it in layers, then find the box that holds a number. A 3 by 3 by 3 shows 19 and holds 27. Oct 16
Dot, Rod, Flat, BlockA dot is a length of one; ten in a row make a rod, ten rods a flat, ten flats a block of a thousand. Build it up, break it down, and turn it in 3D. Oct 16
The Next Cube UpGrow a cube one bigger and count the new dots: 8 grows to 27 with 19 more, three flats, three rods and a corner. Then shrink one smaller: 64 leaves 27, not 63. Oct 19
