getridoftheteacher.com and the ColorMyMath / HughesMath apps · Publisher: HughesMath · Last updated: October 16, 2026

ColorMyMath is made for young children, so it is built to know nothing about them. This page covers the website getridoftheteacher.com and the HughesMath apps (the About Time clocks, the audiobook apps and the other ColorMyMath apps), which show the same pages.

The short version

What is kept on your device (and only there)

The games remember things using the browser's own storage (localStorage) on your device. It is not sent to us, and you can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, or with Start over on this device on the For Grown-Ups page. Uninstalling an app removes it too.

WhatWhy
Which games have been played and when, and today's playlist (cmm-climb)So the playlist knows what comes next and the grown-ups page can show progress.
A first name typed on the certificate (cmm-child)Printed on the certificate. Typed by a grown-up, kept on the device, never sent.
Chosen colors, sound on/off, language, clock and game settingsSo a child's choices are still there next time.
Where you were in an audiobook, and reading speedSo the book opens where you left off.

The few things that are sent to the website

Three optional features send something to our server. None of them needs or asks for personal information.

FeatureWhat is sentWhat happens to it
Audiobook “What did you think?” board A message about a chapter, and an optional first name. Every message is read by a grown-up before anyone else can see it. Messages with a full name, a school, a place, contact details or anything personal are deleted, not shown. Links are blocked. The device's internet address is used for 20 seconds to stop repeated posting, then forgotten.
Speed-run high-score boards Three letters (initials) and a time. Shown on the board. Three letters cannot identify anyone; some letter combinations are blocked.
“Find a game” and “Ask the notes” helpers The words typed into the box. Passed to Cloudflare Workers AI to pick a game or answer, then discarded. We do not store them.

We ask that children post on the audiobook board with a grown-up. If something your child wrote is showing and you want it gone, email us (below) and we will delete it.

Other companies whose content appears on some pages

Like any website, every page is delivered through our host, Cloudflare, which handles basic connection data (such as an internet address) to deliver the page and protect the site. We do not use it to identify anyone. Some pages also show content from other services, which receive the same basic connection data when that content loads:

Links that leave the site — the shirt shop at colormymath.com (run on Shopify, with its own privacy policy), Google Maps, Project Gutenberg, LibriVox — take you to sites with their own rules. Shop links are for grown-ups and sit at the foot of pages, never inside a game.

Children and COPPA

This site and these apps are directed to children. We follow the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by not collecting personal information from children at all: no accounts, no ads, no tracking, no persistent identifiers used for anything except keeping the site running, and a grown-up review of every message before it can be seen. If we ever add something that would need a parent's permission — for example a parent account to keep progress across devices — this page will change first, and it will ask a parent, not a child.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
